Oil Pressure Up Then Down
So I am thinking I've got a bad sensor or wire issue. Oil is full and the light comes on and oil pressure guage goes to zero. A few minutes or miles later, the light goes off and pressure goes up to normal. I found out that the sensor and wire is located on the driver's side by the cross menber so I will send my grandson down to check it. The engine doesn't sound like there's an oil pump problem when the guage shows no pressure, but I guess one can't be sure until they check. Anyone else had a similar issue?

My problem the same is fast getting worse.
A test for oil pressure says its the pump not the sensor.
15+ hours@ $100 per hr. plus parts to fix.
$3000 if Im lucky more if they find something else.
I found another whole engine for $2500 Im thinking about just driving mine until it dies them switching engines.

Vinford and Pappy
Vinford, don't run your engine till it dies! What a waste of an engine! If you swap engines now then at least you can sell your current engine: even with a bad oil pump (someone else will certainly buy it and fix the oil pump and then use it- just forewarn your prospective buyers) The key is to stop NOW running it so it will have value to a buyer. Every single second that you run it without proper pressure reduces its value/usefulness/ life.
Pappy, aren't you the guy that just bought a new engine? And they removed the cab of your truck to do the job? If so you should contact that service garage about this problem ASAP.
Please keep us posted.

if your curious why I ask if you used Sea Foam or other oil cleaner take a look at this link. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...-behavior.html

I had a backyard mechanic tell me it could be a plugged pickup.
Is there Seafoam for oil , Ive only seen it as a gas treatment?

I use it in fuel, but I've never added it to the oil on a modern engine.

To modify your thought Im50fast, once the engine is removed, it would be pretty easy to replace the oil pump; then, resale would be higher.
I wouldn't automatically assume that it is the sending unit, even if it is a 99% chance of being the problem. No sense in damaging a good engine because you didn't do due diligence.
