Ex overhead console display, lie-o-meter removal not the same as the one in the tech folder

I got the display out and haven't decided to solder it or send it in but the Ex has a screw in the sunglass holder so remove that, pull the front down, and then slide it the whole console forward. There are 3 harness connectors that have one clip each that you push in and then pull them apart. There is a guy that fixes the 02' and newer for $15 total so I am waiting to hear back about the 00'.

I just did this actually... Some guy on eBay like taxiproparts is $15 shipped and you just pay the $3-4 to ship it to him! I should have mine back in a day or 2 I took out the sun glass screw as well, I never read the tech how-to.

I emailed him and he said he said if it doesn't say ''00 he doesn't do them, and he only does '02 and up Ex's so I got my Weller 140 watt solder gun out and went to work. At one point I had 2 of the 5 wafers and a nearby wire all connected together with solder, 1 was high on 1 end, 1 was backwards (fell out), and one was at a 20* angle. All had clumps of solder so I got disgusted and buttoned it up for now. Then! I went for a ride to the gym and it worked better than ever. The good part is that it is bright green now. Don't forget to clean the inside of the green lens when you button it up.

Recommendation; Bend the screen way back (can't hurt it) and bend the large round resistor the other way (and leave it there), wiggle each of the 5 wafers with tweezers to see if it is loose, and use a little pen type solder gun. You can probably just solder the loose ones.

Well... mine is a 2000 and I didn't read the 02 and up part, seriously. I sent it off and it's already on it's way back and he didn't say anything about it so I guess it's not an issue for the X. At least yours was done for free and had a 45 minute turn around time!

Funny....that I sent him 2 emails and the first time he said if it is not in the ad I don't fix it and the second time he said "again I don't fix '00 & '01." If mine quits I will hit him up again.

Well... another thing is he only fixes ones that haven't been messed with yet. He seems pretty adamant about that but then again he seems like the 00-02 thing is an issue and that's not either lol. Here is the guy I used:

I thought you used the taxi guy but hopefully it worked out, I wonder what they would do if I sent a hacked up 2000 Ex one some day, anyway let us know how it works.
