Open up the little overhead storage doors. Remove any screws you find, don't worry, it won't fall down.
Then you have to pull down on the whole thing... I had to pull hard enough that I thought I would break it.
Once the clips let go and it drops, it will be "hinged" at the back end (over your shoulder if sitting in driver's seat).
Remove it from the the slot that the tab at the back is inserted into and let the whole assembly down gently.
It will hang on the wires without hurting anything.
Look everything over real well and find the wires that need to be unhooked.
They are held in place by the same plastic connectors you always see on vehicle electronics. (you have to pinch them on the little ears to detach them) I "think" there are three of them.
Make sure you are supporting the weight of the console when you unhook everything.

This is what I had to do TWICE to get my compass lights to work. I missed a solder joint on the first pass and had to do it again.

Hope this helps.

What year is it? My 04 doesn't have any screws. Pull down from the front (by the mirror) and then slide it out the back.

There's a "that's what she said joke" in there somewhere, I'm just too lazy to craft it.

Went out and looked at mine again to remind myself. On mine, there is one single screw inside the first little storage compartment. Then I just pulled down and slid it out from the back slot thingy.

Yes mine only has one screw as well, the reason for remving mine is because I want to see if it hs the pigtail in there so that I can install the digital compass. I was told that as long as its there it can be installed. I will remove the one screw and just pull down, I felt like I was going to break it ..

It does feel like it is going to snap the way you have to pull so hard... I hope the wiring is all in there for you... good luck!
