tranny problems ???

I have a 94.5 powerstroke automatic and iv noticed that ,when it does act up , its warm or hot outside but when its cold it shifts normally ....when it acts up it shifts inconsistent and the overdrive light starts flashing and sometimes it will just stay in a gear and not come out or ill drive around 60 and it just to randomly downshift or clutch will slip while im driving, it seem if it shifts different every time, ONLY WHEN IT ACTS UP .... would anyone have an idea?????

Have you checked for codes?

The codes will give you a very good idea of what's wrong. Without the codes all I can tell you is that something is wrong.

Towards the end of this thread is a link on how to read codes. I'm pretty sure you can do it on your truck the same way, no scanner required.

So you take a paper clip and touch it into the #2 pin hole to the "test connector''? I haven't looked at the harness on my truck but it's a 93 so is the "test connector" already there hanging off the harness? Then the codes display on the dash somewhere?

You can read codes at any time. It will store any codes that have set even if the problem is not present when you read the codes.
