Ts 6 position on 7.3
Hey guys i have a 2000 7.3 f350 pretty stock except spectre intake,5 inch exhaust. Its has 244,000 miles. Ive heard some pretty good things about the ts tuners. Do you think ill mess anything up on the truck? Torque converter or trans? I dont plan on running it past the 75-100hp setting i just dont want to break anything just speed it up from the pig it is now. And everyone says its a good idea to get gauges. What do you guys think? Thanks

Yes it's a good idea to get gauges. Typically the biggest risk you'll face will be leaking up pipes from the increased boost. If you really drive with a lead foot and keep the boost too high, you might wear out your turbo as well.
There are better options for tuning than TS though. Even keeping the 6 position switch or other shift on the fly options.

Get yourself a Hydra chip... Dont throw money away at a TS chip...

It's not so much the hardware as it is the person putting the tune on the hardware. The TS is outdated (with all the new goodies available that can download tunes via internet), but Brian at BTS is still exclusive to the TS chip (last I heard). That being said, I have the Hydra - and I really like the capability to download tunes from my favorite vendor. You may be better off if you get Hydra through somebody like Matt at Gearhead or Tony Wildman at Total Diesel Performance, since PHP has poor marks on customer service.
DP is our sponsor and they have the upgraded F6 (tuner) and Infinity (programmer), but they are not supported by the bulk of the tune providers in the industry (which is very competitive). This leaves the DP products almost iOS-ish vs. the Android-ish support for Hydra or TS.
You can get specific input from members who have tried more than one tuner, to get balanced opinions on how they compare. This is best done as an aside (PMs), or it will quickly spiral into yet another popcorn-showered tuner war - leaving you to sift through the carcasses on the field for a Powerstroke warrior.
