power door lock issue

Hello,

I am posting this to try and fix a problem my father is having with his 2004 E250. The door locks are malfunctioning. More specifically they only unlock. With the key fob and switches in the van they only unlock. When i hit lock I can hear the relay click in the fuse box. I tried to swap it with another one..no dice. When i hit lock i can hear a noise like click from behind the passenger side dash somewhere. if anyone has any ideas i would be very greatful. thanks

Check the rear door lock switch on the right side. disconnect it and see if everything works, if so, that needs replaced or you can leave it disconnected. It seem that is the heart of the system.

Correct. I have an 03 Chateau and it is a rocker switch on the passenger side swing door.

Are you non-functioning PDL issues related only to the key fob?

What happens when/if the individual door switches are actuated?

For the most part an individual switch that fails doesn't affect any other switch or the general operation of PDL's. They will not lock or unlock the whole van from just one position but every other switch will work just fine.

IF this is a key fob issue and using another fob then something in your RKE or Remote Keyless Entry module is acting up. Please check what's working, what's not and report back please.

I tried disconnecting the rocker switch on the rear passenger side door and the fronts still would not work. The remotes work fine. when i hit lock on the remotes or the door i can her a noise from behind the passenger side dash though. if i hit lock on the remote twice the horn blows too.

That should be "opposed" instead of "apposed."

Can an edit be undone? I meant to correct a spelling error and deleted the entire reply!
