Well - "it depends". After all these years somebody may have modified things. So you have to check. Fords of that era have a resistance wire from the ignition switch to the coil. Sometimes called "the pink wire". Somebody may have removed or bypassed it - or left it and added a resistance coil as well. The wire is bypassed during START for more juice, and only in circuit during RUN, so measure when running. The reason for the wire is to prevent point burning. Many people install a high output coil w/ resistor and bypass the resistance wire when they replace points with aftermarket electronic ignition.

C0LF-12250-A is the correct coil part# for my truck..mine has two wires..one goes to the distributor and the other thru the firewall or is this number for the pink wire you are talking about?
After further research I see this Part# is for the wire. Could you tell me the correct Part # for the Coil..also should it have a resistor?
