i have retrofitted a duraspark system to my '65 everything works well. but i was wondering what is the resistance of the coil wire (positive, red wire green stripe) i may have to change it to match what the donor truck had.
shouldnt really amtter as long as it works and has a good spark. this is how aftermarket companies change the quality of spark my adding more coils or less. changing the resistance of the coil.
ya it does run well. but i want to make sure that i am supplying the box and coil with the aproprate voltage. i suspect that the resistance value in the old truck is close enough to the donor truck (1-1.15 ohms i am told)

Your truck currently has a "coil" wire that is color coded red with green stripes? Or you installed a "coil" wire that is color coded red with green stripes?
The wire color coded red with green stripes was not available until 1974.
ND: yes the truck has a red wire (dirty must have gotten the stripe colour wrong) that once went to the positive post on the coil. when i snipped the DS harness out of the '80 there where only 3 wires that didn't go to the DS or the coil or the distributor. two came off of the box one red and one white with blue stripe. the other red with a stripe came off of the coil conector. it was this one that i hooked to the origional coil wire. since the ohm value matches between '65 and '80 i will leave it alone.
Thank you for looking that up for me. i will sleep better knowing its hooked up right!
I think this is a good upgrade. all the parts are ford and look like they belong!
