Rear cab mounts new bushings

FYI

I was able to install new polyurethane in my rear cab mounts, the sleeves were good so just needed to replace rubber. I drilled the poly with 11/16 and inserted sleeves then cut to length. Used McMaster Carr for generic materials. If its cut to length first the poly spun and split with drill.

Just an option instead of buying new cast mounts.

Sounds like a good idea. Modern materials should be good for the old truck.

Looking at your post count....welcome to the forum! You should give us a little background on your project. Pics are always welcome!

Pictures of bushings

I have some photos of installing but can't post attachments. I used 9697k118 from McMaster $12.70. I can email if interested.

My project is 1949 F2 on 1998 explorer awd 5.0. Cab is now mounted and new trans hump is molded and ready for fiberglass.

I fought door hinge pins last week. One was easy others had to cut with dremel.

Nicely done!
Thanks for taking the time to take pictures and share with is.

Here is another alternative;

I used some leaf spring bushing from a late model Dodge truck

Do we really have to use the arms ?

I know the frame was made to flex, but has anybody just mounted the rear of the cab solid?

There is a guy mounting solid on here, but he's not on the road yet. He has stiffened the whole frame too.

I'd kind of worry about poly being a little too stiff; you do want the links to flex. It will be interesting to see how it works out.

Not that it is a big concern on these trucks but every little bit helps . . . the rubber bushings would isolate the cab from road noise, engine vibration and other NVH sources. The poly would be noticeably worse and mounting solid would be . . . well, pretty noisy.
