I'm about ready for some new cab mount bushings. I see that I can get poly ones from the local auto parts stores. Should I get the stock ones or the Poly ?
Also, any tricks or advice on the install ?
I understand this job is a booger. I am not sure of which will be better but it seems the poly ones would last longer. Then again the factory rubber ones have lasted a long time and are probably smoother. I have heard that raising the cab is not as easy as one would think. Keep in mind that I have never done this myself though.
Well, All I can say is I wish I had found this link before I did mine! This man is a genius for how stupidly simple this horrid project can be if you haven't done it before. I had to cut mine off with a sawsall and it took the entire day to get it done! The T bolts are actually flared to hold the top and bottom mounts together so they won't just come off the frame perches. I almost cryed when I saw how easy it was! Anyway, I went with the stock mounts to keep it soft and quite being a 350 and all. I would think the poly bushings would in time do damage to the cab in the form of stress cracking the sheet metal? Have had this happen to some of my mustangs so I'm cautious in this department. This greatly improved and straightend my cab to bed lines and made the truck look new!
i had to cut all mine out i tried the jacks, hammers,.......that was one of the worst projects ive ever done on my truck. but the doors close better now, i put about a 1" body lift to get ready for the 6speed to go in one of theese days.
I'd like to know if he had to modify the stock alternator wiring set up to work with the 215-amp unit. Other than grinding down the stock bracket and using longer bolts, what other modifications were required?
Thanks for all the replies & thanks RSTEEDA for that link. I'm also thinking that the rubber mounts are probably the way to go. The one thing I do like about the polly kit is It has all new hardware. I'll check the dealer & see how much stock will cost. I'm probably going to wait for when it's a little cooler & do some other interior mods. while i have the interior apart.
