Injector cleaning - how do I know when time ?

Basically re read that technical info, never done it on this truck and have a couple other vehicles that may need it, but how do you know it is time ? Also, what kits recommended by manufacturer ? 5.0 plus a pontiac and a caddy may be on this to do list ....

I assume you are talking about a hook up to a machine type cleaning?

Never done that ($$$)

I just run one of the best injector cleaners yearly, redline SL-1. And its a tenth the price of a machine cleaning.

Bad Leroy:

No, if you read the sticky message and go down to the thread of how to clean them on the bench that was what I was referring to. My question is how does one know it is time, maybe a driveability seat of the pants, or perhaps the codes tell you ?

What colour are your plugs? Too white, leaning out. Too dark, running rich. Also voltage can have an effect or it aswell. So keep in mind that you should have consistent voltage across all injectors.

When I cleaned mine a few years ago, the truck ran noticeably better. Idle and power were both much smoother. Of course, I also cleaned the intake and replaced the gaskets, so I could have plugged a vacuum leak or make the incoming airflow smoother.

It never set any codes or anything else, so I don't know that you're going to get an answer to your question.
