Injector Cleaners...

I recently had my truck in the shop...When I got it back, the guy told me to run a couple of Chevron Injector Cleaners. He said the injectors were dirty.

Now, will these 'cleaners' actually really clean? Can dirty injectors cause bad mileage? I get ~8mpg on a 5L 302. I'm not really a knowledgeable guy with egine-works, but I am more than willing to learn .

Yes, they do work.

"Can dirty injectors cause bad mileage?"

Anything is possible.

I put a bottle of injector cleaner in once a month. It is good to keep them clean so they dont get stuck.

What is the most widely used injection cleaner? Which is the most effective? I have wrestled with this question for a long time.

Thanks.

Try Berrymen Injector Cleaning products. They work well, and are resonably priced. Chevron is good too, and now I have been hearing about a product from Sea Foam. I have not used it however, but I am told that Auto Zone is now stocking it. Both Berrymen and Chevron have websites for their products, check them out and good luck/.

Autozone now carrys the Seafoam brand of automotive products and I bought a can for $4.99. I plan on using this product over the weekend. I have talked to a car mechanic and a boat mechanic who both say this stuff is great for removing any varnish or other deposits from the fuel delivery system. After I use the product and I will post an update. I also plan to use in my outboard motor in the spring.

Justice Brothers is said to be very good stuff. They sell it in a can labeled JB. Interestingly they have a penetrating oil named JB-80 with the subheading "twice as good". It's a takeoff against the wd-40 brand. They have good products though. I usually run a can through each month, but I think I should be using it more often as I've been running about 8-10 thousand a month lately. Every oil change seems ok, but might be overkill.

I use the cheap supertech injector cleaner in my truck, its only 88 cents a bottle. I have not noticed any difference at all after using it. I think the ST is worthless im gonna try something else.
