Had something wierd happen this morning...

Yesterday, I cleaned the interior of the truck (vacuumed, cleaned and wiped down with Armoral). This morning, when I got in to start her up, I turned the key to on, and waited a few seconds for the glow plug light to go out and the fuel pump to build pressure as normal. I noticed the left blinker was on ( figured I bumped it when cleaning yesterday) and I didn't bother turning it off before starting. What happened next is the weird part.

After the truck was running and all the idiot lights went dark, the blinkers no longer worked and the ABS light stayed on. I pushed the brake pedal a couple times but that did nothing to help the problem. I then shut her down, waited about 30 sec. and restarted it. Truck started and ran like normal, the ABS light went out and the blinkers worked properly. Drove it around for several hours stopping and starting with no problems.

Anyone have a suggestion on what happened? I'm going on a trip on Sunday and I'll be pulling my camper. I don't need this hassle again this year.

Never heard of anyone having an issue like yours........

Yeah, I swear this thing's possessed. Gave me no end of trouble last year when I tried going on vacation. I'll smile big time when it's exorcised at the Temple of The Crusher.

I bet you had the ignition switch in a bind and didn't realize it. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

sounds like what happened to my step daughter..

she put hair ties on shifter...
then called me when the car wouldn't start!

Remove hair ties, put all the in PARK, start car.
Seemed simple to me.

Not to her first thing in the morning

Sometimes stuff just works at it's own level (or not)

Did you tilt the steering wheel down while you were cleaning? I tilted the steering wheel all the way down on my 03 F-150 and the turn signals wouldn't work, long story short they didn't leave enough slack in the wires to tilt the wheel all the way down and it allowed the connector to come unplugged. The fix was tilt the wheel back up and don't tilt it all the way down again.

Nope. Haven't tilted it down since I've owned it.

I suscribe to the theory that Armour All dries out and cracks plastic dashes and parts.

It also collects dust like crazy.

I was under the impression that keeping the plastic from drying out is what Armour All was supposed to do. You are correct about the dust, but, I figured it was something I just had to deal with.

Alaskenf350: I'm definitely no cowboy and the only "work" my truck has to do is haul my fat *** around and occasionally pull my camper, so, I like to gussy her up once in a while.

I know the feeling...

wish I could "work" my truck more, but with the salary cut and hospital bills.....

She stays parked more than on the road.

Really wanted to hook-up to the big boat and haul it down to Valdez every other weekend (got three day weekends every other work week for now)

but, Stuff happens.

Armorall pulls the oils out of the plastics and dries them out. It will make them slick for a while then brittle over time.

Pretty much the same effect as tire shine.
