1963 4X4 cab replacement - 1961 F600 work?
My father finally gave me his 1963 F250 4x4 that he has built up strong - problem is he never did anything with the body, but abuse it. I am in the process of gathering replacement parts to do a frame off body restore on it.
I have a bed from a 65 (like the fender lines better - looks great sitting next to my 66 2wd), fenders and hood from same 65. I am in need of a cab and doors yet. I have a lead on a 61 F600 that I can get as many parts off of as I need.
My quiestion is if the cab from the 61 F600 will fit on my 63 F250. I have not had the opprotunity to measure it yet to determine if it will, just thought someone here may have done this before.
As always, thanks guys.
Nick

Yes the cab off the 61 will fit. I put a cab off a 64 F600 on my 63 4x4 with no problems. You can even interchange the steering columns to steer the truck easier as the ratios for the F600 are closer for the use of the larger tires. It steers much easier. All the body parts off 61-64 trucks (F100-F600)(cabs off 65-66 F350-F600) will interchange except the front fenders as they are much bigger to compensate the larger tires.
You may have a slight problem in your use of the 65 bed however. The 65 has a wheelbase of 125 and your 4x4 has a wheelbase of 120 and the wheelwells will be off by 5 inches. It can work but you will have to do some modification.
Hope this information helps you out.

Thanks guys. Went and looked at it yesterday and I am glad I did. Typical Montana grain truck, zero rust, few dents. Think it will work great. Thanks for the heads up on the stearing. I was thinking of putting on p/s - but may try this instead.
I will have to look the beds over closely when i get home to see what will have to by modified to make the 65 bed (styleside) fit properly.
Thanks again. I am sure I will have many more questions as this project progresses.

Glad you found a good parts truck. The ones around here are rusted out or been hauled to the scrap iron buyers. I found one that is in better shape than mine. The back of the cab is shoved in 4 inches from a hay rack. The back of the cab is rusted out ,but it has more good parts than the one I bought to fix up. [ I think I may have lost my mind LOL]
My 61F600 has a manual clutch pedal . The 62 F700 has a hydraulic clutch . Was that just a change in years or a option?
