61 Styleside 81 conventional? Or a Uni body 66? 61 style side 81's are very rare.

There are no inner panels avalible in the stock stamping for the model 81 cabs. or inner ones for the 66 uni.

A new panel can be fasioned from flat sheet and installed when the cab corner is removed. It will not have the factory stamp pattern but will keep the crap out of there.

Ummmmmmmmmmmm, I have the rusty kind. 1961 not 1981. Regular bed, non-stepside, non unibody. No trim, no options. Thank you.

A regular split type bed is a type 81 conventional cab.

If you look under body on the inside of your glove box door the VIN tag will say under body a 81 if its a conventional cab or 66 if it is a Unibody.

the 81s are rare with the old 57 to 60 bed for the 1961 model production run.

Thanks. For SURE, it's not a unibody. I am looking at the cab and the bed in 2 different pieces as I type this. Also the bed is not the 57-60 style. Same style as the unibody, but not connected in the middle.

I will check glovebox in the AM. Thank you Garbz

Ok

Just how in hell did you get a way south of the panama canal truck up to Pennsylvania. The only uni style split bed i knew of in PA was one i made for my 66 Crew. And sold to A guy down in York PA. There is a picture of the crew i built in my gallery.

POST Pictures.

Well south of panama. Like brazil and argentina...and way down under in Kiwi land, new zeeland.

Those beds were only produced there. and not here.

PICS man PICS....

Garbz........

Sorry. Just went and looked at the pile of parts and compared everything. My bed is NOT like the unibody. I only WISH I had cool tailights like that. The body lines and contours are the same, but standard ford truck tailights.

Pics tommorrow.

I wonder If I could graft some unibody tailights onto the standard bed? That would look badaxe.

The non-unibody, unibody look-a-like beds are unique to Argentina and were built there from 1961 to 1966 (remember that we only had the unibody from 1961 to 63).

If you are going to fab any inner cab corners I suggest getting them bead-rolled for added strength and rigidity.

It's been a while since I've prefomed the install on my truck, but I do have
some good pics in my gallery, you may want to take a look, it will give you
an inside look, the drivers side of mine, I had to make the inner cab part
that goes behind the cab corner out of sheet metal, but the pass side I cut
a cab corner from a donor truck and took care to leave the "inner structure"
still attached to the cab corner. It worked very good!

P.S. Merry Christmas

Hi Tom I too needed the inner cab corners for my 1966. I took some 16 ga sheet metal and a had a guy help me roll some beads in it. He had a die the right size of the indentation. I then made the bends to get the angle right, there is a slight bend from the top of the piece to the bottom where the exterier cab corner welds to. I just welded it in this last weekend and it looks great. I will take some pics this weekend and put in my gallery. Justin
