Deltas after adding coolant filter
I installed a coolant filter yesterday on my 2005 F-350 PSD. No issues with the install. I got a chance to take it out on the open road today and I noticed my EOT/ECT deltas are 2 degrees higher than before installing the coolant filter.
Deltas before the filter install were 6-8 degrees. After the install 8-10 degrees.
Has anyone else seen this? My theory is the the small amount of coolant leaving the block early is lowering the ECTs a few degrees. But I am a little puzzled.
The outside temp was in the high 40's.

The cold soak temps are spot on.
The ECT didn't go up to 190. The max I saw was 188 which kind of confirms the fact that the small amount of coolant going around the bypass filter is causing the engine to run a few degrees cooler.
If i get a chance today I will do some tests with shutting the bypass and watch the temps and then open the bypass and see what changes.

I don't really think there is enough extra cooling from the filter circuit to make any difference in what you see on a temp gauge. Like I said, the temp is constantly moving up and down, and you wouldn't notice 2°. But theoretically it could make a difference, because it is added coolant flow that bypasses the t-stat.
I also think your t-stat is a bit on the tired side. You could use a few more degrees of running temp. Not a big deal yet, but keep an eye on it.
