Bringing her back

Recently I got the chance to buy my first truck back that I sold 23 years ago sounds great EXPECT something is going on with the fuel system. The truck is a 95 f150 dual tanks . I am no mechanic by far, but I can do the little things brakes alternator etc. . So the issue I'm having is getting fuel into the engine. My dad said I would need to remove the gas tank and replace the pump. MY QUESTION IS CAN I NOT PUT AN AFTER MARKET PUMP BETWEEN THE FUEL TANK AND THE MOTOR
THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE

Sounds like neither fuel pump will run. So your fuel pumps may be OK.

Not easy to put on a frame pump on a duel fuel tank truck.
Tell us you problem with the truck and we will try to help you.

When you turn the key do you hear the pumps engage?

If you do, there's probably a clogged filter somewhere in the system that's preventing fuel getting to the engine.

If you don't, it may be a bad pump or it may be a bad fuse/wiring along the path somewhere.

That sound is the fuel pump.

It sounds like it's working fine, your next step would be to turn the key, let the pump run until it stops and then seeing if the truck starts normally.

If it doesn't, then you're probably looking at a clogged filter somewhere.

Change the filter first.
