Tyler, did you ever figure out why so many IPR's would go bad, and I see Cheezit told him to clean the screen on the ICP, that would be on the IPR, correct. ICP is on the valve cover and you pull the plug to check, correct? All these abbreviations are confusing, now I'm confused, don't want to confuse the OP. LOL

I was never able to figure out why, and right when I thought I figured it out I traded the truck for my duramax, once 2 or 3 iprs blew on the new owner he pulled that motor out and put a 12v in it.

IPR is under the turbo.

ICP is on the pass side valve cover, unless you have an 03 early 04 it's under the turbo also.

A 12valve cummins diesel engine.

They are about a dime a dozen and can run on just about anything. All mechanical motors.

LoL well since i've worked for Ford for 22 years now that probably isn't an option for me. Minus the 15deg spread from my old oil cooler/ egr cooler setup it has ran flawlessly. So i am hoping that it is just something simple from just putting it back together.

Well after a trip to the local Powerstroke Master tech it was discovered that my ficm(and other items Transmission and one other thing) was many many updates behind. The ICP and IPR seem to be functioning flawlessly atm. and he seems to think think update will cure the mystery stall. I guess we will find out but the diagnostic and the ficm update cost me $85. He did say that I will eventually need to replace my STC on the HPOP but that it was good for now. Thanks again guys for all the info. I think i am gonna have to become a supporter of this site.

Not too bad to change, I would do stand pipes, dummy plugs, and IPR screen and EGR delete while in there, won't add too much to the cost, should be pretty reliable after that.

You guys seem to know your stuff, IPR plugged missing screen, STC part on the HPOP was bad as well. I also had developed a whine when the truck would sit at idle. turns out i had a hairline crack on the impellar. $1,000 dollars later and I hope I will be good for a bit. I went ahead and changed the oil again as a safety precaution (probably didn't need it but did it anyways.) This has been an expensive first month. Benny was right bought someone elses headache. I hope that was all the main issues for these motors.

May I ask how many miles is it after the oil cooler change that this stalling problem surface?

Less than a 1000. But in fairness, I am new to the diesel world and out of a lack of knowledge I should have checked these items when I had it apart doing my EGR Delete / oil cooler change. They could have been (and probably were bad then) I could have done them both at the same time. I wasn't aware of the STC on the HPOP or the IPR Valve. The good people I've met on here made me aware of these. That and it left me sittin twice in one week LoL. I hope these are the main issues with these motors.

What?

Please explain to me the following abbreviations and what they do. I'm having problems in park or stopped in drive. The RPM's rev up and on some occasions has died.

ICP
IPR
STC
