This should help you decode everything http://www.fordification.net/tech/vin.htm

As far as which axle you have, it should be stamped on the housing in the bottom right corner next to the pumpkin. May take a wire brush and cleaner to see

A decoded VIN won't provide that information.

The VIN only provides the model, engine code, manufacturing plant, and consecutive unit number.

However, the warranty plate riveted to the rear face of the driver's door does provide the codes necessary for determining how the truck was originally delivered... unless the door has been swapped and the warranty plate wasn't transferred.

^ what HIO said

That pic shows is that the truck is a...

1979 F150
6cyl engine
made in Kansas City
April '79,
4x2 given the GVWR

You'll need to post the door tag which is riveted to the door, black and silver for more info.

F150 ='s 9" rear end, March 79 so 99% sure front end has single piston caliper disk brakes and drums on the rear.

And just so you know that sticker is NOT the vin tag, it is the Safety Certification sticker.

1951/56, 1959/67 with Limited Slip and on some 1977/79 F100/150's (with/without Limited Slip).

1959/67 F100's with 9" were not available with Limited Slip, 1968 was the first year.

Some 1963/66 F100's also have Dana 60.2 .. some 1966/68 F100's have Dana 60.3 .. both with Limited Slip, but neither is a Dana 60.

No 1966/77 Bronco had a Dana 44 rear axle.
