1999 Escort wagon - problem programming key fob
I hope my poor Ford Escort (1999) rates on this forum; I really wanted a truck, if that helps.
My problem began when the key fob began to fail. Because it was progressive, I figured it was the battery. Replaced the battery. Still didn't work. So I ordered a replacement Fob here:
Amazon.com: 1999-2003 Ford Escort Keyless Entry Remote Key Fob w/ Free DIY Programming Instructions: Automotive
Unfortunately, the promised programming instructions did not materialise. I found a thread on this forum:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/2...ramming-2.html
and gleaned what I thought I needed from various posts.
So, I turned the key the requisite 8 times -and, as specified, on the eighth turn the doors locked and unlocked, following which - leaving the key on the ON position, I attempted to open and close the doors with the fob, but nothing happened. I put a new battery in the replacement fob - still nothing.
So is it possible that this is the wrong 'model' and that it will never work or am I doing something wrong?
Hoping that someone out there will have an answer for me. Thanks
