It seems that someone tried last night to get into My 2014 Expedition...Neighbor stated alarm was going off...when I try to get into the vehicle nothing is working...can get in with the key but even putting the key in the ignition does nothing...can only unlock the doors with the key and lock doors by hand....Any help will be greatly appreciated...I have only owned this vehicle for 3-4 weeks.....Thanks
Yes that's the first thing I tried...got 2 FOB's and none of the buttons on either one do anything...can only get in with the key and key in the ignition does nothing....cops stated 2 other cars were attempted last night in this neighborhood too...
In that case it's possible a fuse got blown during the attempt, so try checking all of them with a bright light to see if one or more are blown. The other thing to try is a battery disconnect for several minutes to reset the alarm. It might go off by default when reconnecting the battery, so have your FOB handy.
That was the second thing I checked...battery is intact...The SUV was locked so I don't think they got in...nothing is missing....this vehicle does have a Viper remote start system which the dealer gave no info on...just a FOB with a start button
I just tried to disconnect the battery for a few mins....after I reconnected it I now notice the red symbol for car alarmed flashing once...then a few seconds later it flashes 3 times ....don't know if this is a clue...
Not sure what I'm looking for....any suggestions of where the most likely place this unit would be mounted ??? No one at the dealership until Tuesday and the same with Viper...Hoping I can find the unit with a model number...Vipers web site seems to have all the manual downloads available...
Thanks guys....will be digging into this today....seems the vehicle is completely dead right now....nothing...no lights or anything ....not sure the extent of the damage when someone got inside....Contacted my insurance company and it seems anything that has occurred would be covered....so it may just be towed to a local dealer today....not a good feeling having this happen only 4 feet from my house on the driveway....My previous Expedition was a 1998 with 390,000 miles and is still running and driving today...
this vehicle does have a Viper remote start system
Every remote start system I've installed also had an alarm. As part of the install I connected a relay that interrupted the starter. This prevented grinding if you turned the key with the RS active and it also double as a starter kill when the alarm was active.
Thanks guys for all your help and insight...decided to drop it off at the local Ford dealer....by the end of the day I got a call it was finished...picked it up the next morning and was shocked...$0 balance due....no charge...they said anyone that had to go through that the day before Christmas they didn't have the heart to charge anything...Just blew me away....Thanks again for all your advice...
