compass in place of coin holder

Hey you fellow 2wd guys. A Ritchie x-21BB marine compass fits in place of the coin holder. I hated the coin holder and a compass did not come standard on my 2014 2wd STX. You just have to plull out on the bottom part of the panel section containing trailer brake, coin holder and vent. The holder is retained by 3 squeeze prongs. The trim panel goes across the gauge cluster but if you just pull that end of free, you have enough access. I had to clean up the hole a little with a rotary tool just enough to slide it in. The locking ring that comes with the compass secures it to the dash. If I took my time, I could have made it more centered.

Thanks. I was surprised it came out as good as it did.

Where did you purchase said compass and how much did you pay? I currently have a sunpro queer inch volt meter gauge in place of the country holder. It'seems been acting up for about a year, I have to tap it a few times to get it to read.

I also miss not having a compass in my vehicle, as it is an STX as well.

Compass was $39ish from Amazon. You could maybe buy one from Ritchie's website. There were cheaper options, but this looked like the one that would fit best. Some looked like a better compass display but were over $100. I'm not married to Ritchie or Amazon, but I can't argue with the fitment. It comes with two wire leads on the back for illumination. The coin holder is a dummy plug for the 4wd harness plug and one of those wires is keyed 12v but I didn't mess with that.

Great idea! I just got a 12 f150 for work and was wondering what to do with that spot. The coin holder seems silly.

Yeah if you put coins in it, it rattles. Only thing is since its a column shift, when in gear, you can't see it. I'm still happy with it though.
