Well here it is, something Gary and I (and many others) were discussing about what to do with the speaker section falling apart.
This "cubby" I designed is made so the bottom of the panel is horizontal when installed in the dash. Looks like there is enough room even with the steel speaker mount plate under the dash. Not sure till I find a dash "bad enough" to cut up with out feeling guilty about it.
painted red just to contrast it.
The deep end is the front, the shallow end goes towards the windshield
Sitting on "good dashes" Just can't find a bad one!
I'll PM you with my address.
All I need is the center section, say 2" to the right and left of the windshield screw holes. So that would be about an 18 inches of the center section.
Interesting. Not sure what I expected, but I think it is bigger than expected. Might be very handy to put the cell phone in or other such "accessories".
Don't know till I cut up a dash pad. Got Ideas...no dash to try them on.
What were you thinking of? Love to get some input.. think this will fly?
The cubbie is as big as the speaker hole area.
I'm a bit confused. Do you intend to cut out a big square from the dash pad and have that tray mounted from underneath? I would think just picking up a set of the optional door pockets would be a more elegant solution to increasing the storage for small items. From the title I was thinking you were going to come up with a way to repair the dash pad so as to make it appear new again.
Reamer- check your inbox. I think your mod might be useful. Especially if you are like me and plug your phone into your stereo for music. I was looking at converting the ashtray into a phone holder.
Yeah I thought it might, but it would be easy to cut a wedge out of the tub and plastic weld it back together. Or heat it and mould it around the brace.
