Tailgate issue

Tailgate issue
Hey everyone,
So i'm having a tailgate issue. When I open my tailgate, sometimes the internal spring wants to keep it up, rather then letting it open down. It also makes an odd popping noise during operation from time to time......I don't see or feel anything broke in it.
Any Ideas?

There is no spring as we think of one,
The gate is supported by a torsion rod.
The external end of the rod is the left side socket that the gate pivots on.
It sounds as if the clamp holding the internal end of the torsion rod is allowing the rod to slip.
As the strain is placed on the end it may move a notch or two.
This will result in the rods neutral point to change.
Then when you open the tailgate the rod will exert force greater than what is needed to hold the tailgate.
The clamp screws are located on the bottom edge of the right side of the gate.

Tylus did I miss something?
The simple answer is, yes, I did.
The last I remember you had a mustang and the Ex.
When did the 250 replace the 'Stang?

Ryan, did you get a chance to look at your torsion rod yet? And what put you on your back?
Shorebird, the Stang went bye bye when I lost all fear of it and was acting like a drunken 16yr old. Car had 6,100 miles when I traded it in...on it's 3rd set of rear tires...and I had modified it so much that I was actually thinking about de-modding it so I could enjoy driving it.
Found the F-250 with 10,000 miles already lifted and it's fully loaded. They gave me almost $30,000 for the car (it was a 2009 Bullitt #6451) and the truck was priced better than most used 1/2 ton Supercrews since most people are scared of the 6.0 PSD. No brainer decision for me...especially as the truck has zero hits on OASIS

As for the 250; No Oasis hits on a lifted '06 with only 10k on it, that decision took all of 1-2 seconds. Correct?
