Having a problem with my tailgate
The other day I noticed the tailgate wasn't wanting to release. I didn't have time to mess with it til this morning. I took the handle off so that I could get to the rods inside the tailgate. The passenger side releases when you pull it, but the drivers side does not. It moves freely about 1/2-3/4" then its like it hits a wall. It is still attached on the latch end. It is a 72 f100 swb explorer. Any ideas on how to get the tailgate open? Thanks.

Mike, Keep pulling on it and then lube it up. It should start working again. I hate to tell you to go at it with a screwdriver, but you may have too.
Working from the hole, get something hooked into it and use some kind of impact to move it.

I don't recall exactly how the rod is attach; but some tailgate models; had the ability to screw / turn the rod acouple of turns to reduce the lever pull. I'm not 100% sure our trucks are capable of adjusting the linkage of the rod. I'll also check mine tommorrow morning on my 78; its expose alittle.
