Clever Thieves Make Off With Ford F-150 In Unique Way
Thieves dressed up as gas company employees, then made off with this 2006 Ford F-150.
Getting Creative
While the Ford F-Series line of pickups has always been popular with shoppers, it's also been a hot target for thieves, an unfortunate byproduct of success. But while we've certainly seen our fair share of thefts involving the F-150 and Super Duty over the years, the owner of this 2006 Ford F-150 was surprised recently when a pair of thieves used a rather creative way to make off with his truck, according to the Peoria Police Department in Arizona.

Playing Dress Up
According to police, the two thieves knocked on the man's front door one morning wearing reflective vests and claiming that they were employed by the local gas company. Once the man opened his door to let them in, however, they assaulted him, burglarized his home, and then made off in his F-150.

Some Luck
Luckily, the F-150's owner wasn't seriously injured and was treated at the hospital for some non-life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, however, the two men have not yet been located, and the victim wasn't able to give a very good description of either, which is understandable in this case.

Seeking Justice
Police did manage to locate the F-150 a short time after this particular crime occurred, which is a bit of good news, at least. But we imagine that the victim would probably rather see his attackers brought to justice, and punished for this unnecessary crime.

Hard to Prevent
Unfortunately, this sort of crime is difficult to predict and prevent - after all, there may very well be legitimate reasons for us to open the door for some people. We certainly can't blame the victim in this case - especially since the crime happened at 8:30 in the morning - so it's hard to say what he could have done differently, other than simply ignoring anyone that comes knocking.
