Thieves Make off With a Dozen Ford Trucks in One Night
As horrible as it is for the owners, we can't help but be impressed by this productivity.
Impressive Feat
As we've discussed at length in recent years, Ford trucks have become a hot target for thieves. This is a sad side effect of their popularity, of course, as pawning off hot Blue Oval pickups and their parts are big business. But we don't know whether to be disgusted or impressed by what a group of thieves in Port St. Lucie, Florida managed to pull off recently.

Dozen Plus
According to CBS 12 News, over a dozen Ford trucks were stolen in one night in the town of Port St. Lucie recently, which is simply mind-boggling. And even though a couple of the victims have video footage of the thefts, it's quite difficult to get any useful information from them.

Organized Crime
Police say the group of thieves were quite organized, hitting one particular part of the city in what was obviously a well-coordinated string of crimes. As we can see from the videos, at least two of the stolen trucks in question are Super Dutys.

Professional Job
"My husband's truck was stolen out of our driveway at 4 a.m. by Floresta and PSL Blvd," one victim said. "The police have informed us that there have been a few trucks stolen in the area, unfortunately. It is unsettling to know this was happening just feet away from my family and I while we were asleep. The guys who stole it were professionals. They reprogrammed the truck and cut the wires to the alarm system within ten minutes. They towed it using a Honda, which drove by my house earlier in the day."

Recommendations
Interestingly, police say that most of these thefts are happening on Wednesdays. They recommend those truck owner's either park their pickups in the garage or block them in with another vehicle if that's not possible to prevent this from happening.

Additional Security
In addition to these tips, owners can install aftermarket alarm systems or tracking devices on their trucks, which can, at the very least, help police locate them if they are stolen.

Growing Problem
Regardless, Ford truck theft remains a huge problem across the U.S., and it doesn't appear to be getting any better. And for the victims of this terrible crime, it's easy to feel both violated and helpless.
