3 Ford Trucks and SUVs That Have the Best Resale Value
These three Ford trucks and SUVs have the best resale value in their respective classes.
Hidden Expense
When we purchase a vehicle, our investment in it doesn't just stop at that point - rather, the mere act of owning and driving that vehicle costs money, too. However, aside from things like fuel, maintenance, insurance, and property taxes, there's another big expense that most don't really think about - depreciation - which can actually wind up being the biggest of them all, depending on which model one buys. That's precisely why Kelley Blue Book hands out its Best Resale Value Awards each year, and for 2024, Ford has three trucks and SUVs that made the cut.

Ford Bronco
The Ford Bronco also made the cut by posting the best resale value of any off-road SUV, but that wasn't the only KBB award it took home this time around. Rather, the Bronco also had the highest five-year resale value of any vehicle for 2024, as the rugged model is projected to retain 66.7 percent of its value over that time frame.

Ford Maverick
Rounding out our Best Resale Value Award trio is the Ford Maverick, which finished 10th overall and atop the compact pickup segment with a five-year resale value of 54 percent, making it a solid investment for those shopping for something that they won't lose the bank on when they sell it.

Methodology
To come up with these rankings, KBB uses projections derived from its residual value guide, and those figures themselves are determined by analysts who use statistical models and millions of transactions as a guide. When that data is crunched, the vehicles that are expected to retain the highest percentages of their original MSRP, on average, are handed Best Resale Value Awards.

Overall Market
What's particularly notable is the fact that every on average, 2024 model year vehicles are only expected to retain 42.4 percent of their original value after five years of ownership - meaning that a $50k vehicle will be worth a mere $21,200 after that period of time. However, every vehicle in this year's top 10 list is projected to retain 58 percent or more of its MSRP over that same time frame, which equates to thousands in potential "savings" if one chooses the right new vehicle.
