8.8 Tone Ring
Finishing up the details on an 8.8. I picked up a new Ford tone ring, I was surprised to see it does not have an alignment tab.

Am I correct in thinking that the index of the ring does not matter so long as it correctly seated on the carrier?

The spacing to the sensor would vary depending on the shiming of the carrier so it must work within a range.

FWIW, when I swapped from open to trac lok, I just moved the tone ring over.

I am putting together a whole new axle to minimize downtime. The only thing I plan to swap are the backing plates and attached parts.

That would be nice! I wanted to do that when I changed gears and added trac lok, but the boss said I didn’t have room for it! She’s right, even though I told her it would only be here for a short while.

So for 3 days, she couldn’t park in the garage since I had it torn apart. I made sure I was very meticulous about everything and took enough breaks to pass time! Haha

I also replaced the perches, so 7 hours of grinding and hammering..

Yes, yes. But does the lack of indexing tab matter? My understanding, seems like it doesn't but I have been wrong on occasion.

Mine didn’t have a tab that I remember. Also didn’t know you’re not supposed to reuse them.. oh well!
