Need help with dual wheel removal

I apparently am not smart enough to remove the dual wheels from my 51 F5. After you remove the outer dual, do you remove the stud to get the inner off? It looks like it should slide off over the studs .

Nope, those are threaded on, and hold the inner wheel in place.

Welcome Jlwhitt77.

There are inner nuts and outer nuts. You have removed the outer nuts to get the outer wheel off, now you need to remove the inner nuts to remove the inner wheel. Inspect the wheel stud holes for wear to be sure the inner nut isn't contacting the hub. The inner nuts are stamped L or R on their face to indicate the thread type.
Also, the tightening torque on the lug nuts is 450 - 500 ft. lbs.
It also looks suspect that you have the widow maker wheels.

These below pictures might help understand the Budd style “double cap nut”, or DCN, mounting system. The wheel pictured, and others like it, have the “widow maker” “ Firestone RH-5°“ style outer rims. A Google search will yield much info on their safety risks. Below are also pictures of their center line rim joint. Stu

Widow maker joint.

Thanks for the help fellas. I feel like a moron. I tried everything to get that wheel off. I guess it would help if I removed all the fasteners. I need in there to repair the wheel cylinder. I am close to having this truck driving again.
