Digital Odometer?

Guys, I thought I'd ask here though it pertains to a 2008 Ranger Sport that I may be buying in November-(I asked on the Ranger forum but no one seems to know)
Lets say someone altered the mileage on a vehicle with a DIGITAL odometer, but did not replace the computer/ECU.....would the original mileage still be present in IT?
I would think that a Ford dealer should be able to read whatever is stored in the computer and see.....

Mileage is not a function of our PCM's.

I thought that when Ford went to the digital mileage display in 2003? It was stored on the PCM as well.

That could be, you are out of my realm there but I never heard anyone say anything about it. If that's the case can they be synced? And what happens when you change PCM's?

Nobody is quite sure what happens when the time/space continuum is altered. :-)

I'd contact Circuit Board Medics.

For what it's worth, when I owned an '07 F150 Harley edition, it had to have a new instrument cluster, I was asked what the mileage was as they were able to set the new cluster to the correct mileage using Ford's software, I'd guess that means that it isn't stored in the PCM.

Supercab,

We repair/replace a lot of Ford clusters and PCMs, and we primarily see the mileage stored and reflected in the cluster. However, if I remember correctly, there have been a few PCMs that had an option to program mileage, so it is possible that it could be stored there as well, but not reflected on the shown mileage. We have not seen a 2008 Ranger PCM in here, so I do not have any data on this one in particular.
