need price on a ford 6.0 starter

My truck is an 06 F-250 super duty with 6.0 liter diesel motor, damage on the Bendix gear.
I had a mechanic to check and he told me my original starter was defective.
And a new ford 6.0 starter he sale is $300,oh,too expensive.
What's the price of a ford f250 starter ?
I find Hexautoparts has the 6.0 starter for sale only $65.
Should I pay 5 times as much for a f250 starter?
Thank you.

Go to DB Electric and get one, the price is decent and the reliability is good.

Good time to swap in a 6.4 starter, you won't regret it

CNCFab is selling Mahle 6.4L starters for a very good price. Not sure how good they are personally, but the company has a good reputation on the ORG.

They make some really good stuff as far as hard engine parts Mark, no reason to think they would risk the reputation with a crappy starter line.

They do make good parts, but they also separate OE and aftermarket in design and manufacturing, like all the majors do. Not trying to say the starters are bad or good. I just bought some Mahle/Clevite bearings that I’m returning, keeping others as I have no choice due to the sizing.

Mahle has been on a tear in both Europe and the USA buying up divisions.

I got my last 6.4L starter at the local wrecking yard.
The best way to do that is make sure that it's the OE Ford one and not some junk from China.
The 1st one I put in a different truck came from Ebay and it also was a Ford OE starter.

I bought a new 6.4 starter for my '05 6.0 from DB electrical for $84. It's an upgrade that's worth it.

Don't even bother with a 6.4L starter. Go straight to the 6.7L. 3.5kW of crank spinning goodness.
