89 f250 no start after new distributor

Hi there, I'm hoping for some help in finishing up a distributor install.
I recently had a no start where I was getting fuel but no spark. Then replaced the ignition coil, but got no change so side of the strip place the distributor thinking that the ignition module and stator were probably the problem.

Removed and replaced the distributor as per Hanes instructions, also replaced the #1 and #1 spark plugs, (planning on replacing them all before timing)

when I went to hook the cables back up I found a plug that I can not remember where it came from or if it was hooked up. It is located above the plug for the ignition module and what I believe is the spout.

Also, my spout just dead ends into a cap, do I need to take that apart to properly time the engine?

Thanks in advance for the help, sorry if my lingo is off. I'll post a pic of the wiring harness below.

Welcome to the forums.

You have to unplug the spout connector to time the engine. Once timed, you install the plug again.

Would be nice to know what you are working with. Going by memeory, it appears to be the plug for the TFI module. Did you get the wrong distributor?

The SPOUT is removed from the harness to set base timing.

The truck is a 89 f250 custom with a 5.8.
Same model of distributor that I removed which only has a port for the ignition module, and a small screw on the right of the distributor which nothing was connected to on the old one.

Big grey plug is for module on distributor. I'm guessing the small plug at the top of the picture hooks to nothing. Looks kinda dirty like it was never in anything.

The SpOut Connector is the one with Yellow/Light Green striped wires.

That other connector, can you verify the wire colors?
Looks like a Black/Yellow wire, the AirConditioning system used a Black/Yellow I believe, maybe to the A/C compressor?

Did you put the motor on TDC of cyl #1 before stabbing the new distributor? If not the timing is way off.

Ok so it will turn over but not start?
1. When you turn the key do you hear the fuel pump?
2. Does it run then shut off or does it keep running?
If it keeps running then your problem is with the PCM you will need to check it for bad Caps. If the fuel pump comes on then quits after a few seconds then you need to check fuel pressure on the rail.
