No Spark - Disconnected Spout?

I have been trying to hunt down a no spark issue. I have walked it all the way back to checking the PIP and the TFI.

While Ive been trouble shooting I noticed a connector off of the TFI wires that I could not find a mate for. I ran across an image on google that identified the connector as a "SPOUT".

What is the purpose of the SPOUT? Could this be the cause of a no spark situation?

I wanted to check here before I took the truck back to the shop where I had a new distributor installed this March. If I'm understanding correctly, the TFI and PIP should be a part of a new distributor and still under warranty.

Thanks for your help!
Drew

The SPOUT (Spark Out) plug connects the computer to the TFI module. With the SPOUT in the computer controls the timing. With the SPOUT plug removed the TFI runs in default mode by triggering on the raw PIP signal. The computer is now out of the loop. You set the base timing by removing the SPOUT plug. This implies with it gone there is still spark

Depends....1992 and later trucks the TFI is remote mounted. There is only the PIP inside the distributor.

Was the "new" distributor ""new"" or rebuilt? If it is the latter I suspect you purchased a replacement distributor with a bad PIP. It happens... A LOT.
