2G to 3G Alternator Swap
I have my 88 F250 with a 7.5 l 460. Today the alternator went out. I would like to do a conversion to put a 3G alternator on this truck and get rid of the old 2G that failed. I have two questions, the first is after measuring the spacing I need a 7-inch Center to Center Mount alternator. Were these ever available with a 130 amp rating?
If so what car should I look up the fender replacement? The next question is what parts besides the new alternator will I need to do the conversion?
Thanks!
Luke

Get an alternator for a 1997 Taurus with a 3.0L OHV V6. 130 amp, 7" bolt spacing. You will need a new bolt, washer, lock washer, and nut for the top bolt. You should also get a new charge wire, 6 AWG or thicker, plus some form of circuit protection rated 150-175 amps.

Then you should check out the F53 alternator first, because it will have the electrical connections clocked in a better position.
The Taurus alternator will work as it comes, but the wiring is in an awkward position. It is necessary to take the case apart, and rotate it to get the electrical connections pointing in the best direction.
