Question Battery position question

slowly re-assembling the 1978 short bed 4x4 F150 after the body work and paint. I am building battery cables and wiring but do not know how the battery sits. Are the posts on the engine side or on the outside? I have searched for a photo of the engine compartment, but haven't been able to stumble across one.
Any help would be appreciated.

Engine side...

To my knowledge, there has never been a battery that has been factory mounted with the mounts toward the exterior, wouldn't even be logical.

Normal 1 battery set up, battery itself is on the passenger side, with the + closest to the starter solenoid and the - close to the core support.

As far as the posts or connections, I use a top post battery. If you change to side post mount then I would have them on the open side of the eng compartment.

Rufus, I think you're my neighbor down the street. Hope the fact you looked at my truck the other day helped you out

Can't wait to see that beauty completed.

That would be a good battery for the dual battery tray

Both of mine '76 & '77 sit with the posts facing out towards the fender.
