Turbo bark vs blow off valve
New to the PSD, so please forgive the ignorance
It sounds to me like a lot of these guys have the "turbo bark" in the videos (found of youtube).... isn't that dangerous for the turbo? would a blow off valve help that? Or is there a reason that we don't have them?

i don’t have it, but I keep hearing it on the YouTube videos of dudes running tuned trucks

It just a function of its design. It shouldn’t happen often, just when you lift the throttle a large amount, quickly, while the turbo is making boost. It isn’t causing any damage. If you are hearing it often maybe adjust your driving style a little. I haven’t ran into a problem but maybe some more knowledgable folks may know if something like a weak VGT solenoid or something could cause it to happen easier? I’m not aware of any modification to keep it from happening without changing to an aftermarket, non variable turbo and a wastgate.

Yeah, 6.0L turbine "Bark" doesn't sound (or feel) like a compressor stall or surge at all....Last one I had resulted IN a flame-out.

I'm no expert but my experience has shown this to not be correct. Turbo was cleaned and inspected when my head work was done. When I run hotter tunes the turbo "barks" when I let off the throttle quickly under boost. It doesn't do it on stock tuning. Whether it's damaging or not I don't know, but I do know it has nothing to do (at least in my case) to a stuck or not operating unison ring.
