New F250 XL - camera surprise

Just picked up the new truck yesterday -- they had it on the showroom floor when we arrived and it was drawing attention. It's an XL, blue jeans with the STX package, and really a good looking truck, even as a low-end model. When I built the truck on the SD build site, I added the CHMSL camera and the description was "this camera provides a better view of the pickup box" etc. but no mention of what screen you'd get or anything about the backup camera. When you tried to add the backup camera also, you had to delete the CHMSL camera. So I chose just the CHMSL camera, so surprised to find out I got both the CHMSL camera and the backup camera and the 4.2" screen. The build site could just a few tweeks.

Congratulations on the new truck.

Are you in Wyoming? I grew up in Casper and got a degree from UW. I keep hoping I can convince my wife to move back.

HRTKD, thanks. Yes, I'm in Wyoming - northwest corner, love it. Economy has taken a hit the last couple of years. But we're retired so just do a lot of camping and fishing!

Thanks for posting this. I built an F-250 online and when I added the CHMSL camera I had no idea what happened to the backup camera in the tailgate. So, I had a chat with the Ford rep and I kept asking and finally he looked it up and said: When you order the CHMSL camera the backup camera in the tailgate still is there. I asked how it works with 2 cameras and he told me you select which one you want to use. Have to see this at some point.

When we pick up the new Northern-lite slide-in camper later this month, I'll figure out how to post a picture.

Thumbs up

So I chose just the CHMSL camera, so surprised to find out I got both the CHMSL camera and the backup camera and the 4.2" screen.
Great news! We also ordered the CHMSL camera on our new F350. Based on what I've read so far, I believe that I'll be able to toggle between it and the tailgate camera.

Thanks,
Jim / crewzer

Bump..... good to know!

You certainly wouldn't think this from using the B&P tool...... very unclear.

Great info!!! From the b and p i thought they only way to have both cameras was to select the ultimate camera package.

I've been on Ford's B and P site also, it could use a few tweaks. But hey it's only been up for 2017 MY for over a year, and even Bronze Fire is way off from what it really looks like.

I went with the STX package as well. The bed and tailgate camera was a plus, easy to go between the 2 and zoom.
