It doesn't take that long to find a new contract MFG and re-tool ... So I wonder whats really going on!
And re-tooling should not have to be done if they have proper control of their contract MFG...
Every contract MFG I've dealt with I've always owned the tooling, that way when I (or they) decide to tell them to pack it in their mud hole I don't loose the tooling, this is standard practice.
However, It sounds like maybe they were buying parts from a SUPPLIER not a contract MFG, If thats the case then the parts could be available from another avenue, finding that avenue could be difficult though.
This should be intresting I want one but with its price and the price of a 4inch exaust not looking so good for me thinking about having the top portion if my down pipe cut off and geting round 2.5 put on it at a local exaust shop but I gotta check on the price pluss it still aint 3 inch but it should help.
Anyone know the housing bolt size and threads? I am cutting off the old ones and they are junked anyway so help please!!!! This is for the upgrade housing, I believe there are five bolts and they are most likely 8mm 12 pt
Just read through my "installation instructions" that ATS sent me.. All they are saying is "There are 5, 5/16 twelve point bolts".. They're not Metric so they gotta be 5/16 x 18 or 5/16 x 24 if memory serves me correctly (18 course thread and 24 fine thread). When all my stuff was put on it was a great advantage to give the bolts a good soaking in WD-40 or the equivelant before attempting to remove them. To me that was just a great excuse to get rid of some beer..
ah i figured they were just worn down lol. Ill pick one of those up tomorrow along with some high temp gasket material, there is a gasket between the new housing and the turbo right? if not well then woohoo! haha.
yeah the 12pt is friggin bull**** and makes for a hell of a time getting them off. Im going to probably install some hex head grade eights and coat them with ceramic. Friggin rust kills me. lol.
from my limited knowledge with the turbo setup, they are the same thing except ford used a different down pipe for the stock ford setup. The upgrade kit should bolt to both.
as far as this upgrade talk goes..... what does the upgrade kit go to the ats kit that you can buy or the ford one that came with the truck?
I'm pretty certain the upgrade kit is only useful for the Ford factory turbo that came with the squashed downpipe and 2.25" outlet. For whatever stupid reasons Ford neutered the ATS design.
The ATS aftermarket turbo came from ATS with the 3" outlet and a full sized 3" downpipe. So there is no point in getting the upgrade if you have the ATS aftermarket setup.
