so I went and bought the one Travis reccomended. took a bunch of pics but not able to post them. found something interesting.
both the light grey and the dark grey CPS have reverse magnetic polarity compared with the stock CPS. NOT +/- but north/south. Don't know how that matters dont care really either-just an observation. just hoping to get better mileage.couldn't get a good depth measurement inside against the cam ring.but here's what i got on the cps flange depth measurements.
f4tz-12k073-c=dark grey=1.125"
f4tz-12k073-b=light grey= 1.125"
stock CPS=black = 1.145?
have you noticed any power difference, or change in idle? Obviously haven't noticed fuel mileage differences yet but... yeah, i have that cold idling problem so I was wondering if yours idled any better now
Hey Brian! first start this morning was smooooth like butter. Almost like when I did the HPX line. A little longer to crank maybe though. later in the day a warm start was a loping idle just like my light grey one. but starting in another chip setting fixes that and it goes away right away. the chip settings seem about the same. it doesn't seem all that different than the light grey one. but We'll see if mileage improves. Got a couple good spares in the glove box now too.

the thing on the light grey CPS is that some of them are good and some aren't. my dad got his done on the recall and it was fine. then started having problems a few months later and thought it was CPS. i got him a new light grey and it wasn't the problem, but he threw away the other CPS. so once we got it fixed it ran fine, but bad mileage. why? i have absolutely no clue. put in this CPS and mileage came back to around what it was before. i can't explain it, but it's what happened. there will be no power increases and if your old grey CPS was decent then you may not see much difference, but most guys on PSN that have done it saw quite a difference on their SD's.
I just bought ($22.07) a new International CPS Unit part # 1876736C91 and it
looks exactly like the F4TZ-12K073-C Ford Unit.
All the mold marks are the same, the chrome on the handle, the purple O-Ring
and it has a nice strong magnet on the bottom, much stronger than the gray unit.
The Light Gray Unit F7TZ-12K073-B that the Dealer just installed in my Rig is terrible, the worst. Stay away from this one.
They should check the air gap on your cam sensors. .025 - .030 is the spec.they tell us at International.
The New Blue International Units are working Great down in S Florida and the Truckers down here are buying them like hotcakes.
So this new Ford Blue unit looks exactly the same as the International T444 unit.
We are all going Blue Down here. The International tech told me the trick they use is the Vaseline on the O-Ring, not grease. These Guys were very smart tech's, I am going there for any major engine work instead of Ford, guaranteed.
