Tail Lights Issue
1988 F250 5 speed. Brake lights work when headlights and running lights are off, but both front and rear turn signals do not. Both sides flicker, but faintly. After turning on parking lights/headlights, no brake lights turn on with depression of pedal. However, if shifter is put into reverse, brake lights come one. When pedal is depressed and shifter is in reverse, reverse lights come on. Changed flasher unit in fuse box, inspected wiring from lights, running along frame. Jiggled all wires, but lights did not change. Thinking it might be a short, but cannot find it. Thinking about changing headlight switch on dash... Any suggestions?

When the brake lights when out on my 89 F250 it was the turn signal switch. it was shorting there against the steering wheel lock. The brake lights on these old fords run through the turn signal switch, so if that's no good then the brake light wiring is no good as well. but as for putting your truck in reverse and they do work, I'm stumped there. but changing that switch will fix your turn signals.
