I was going to take the truck down to the truck show down in Johnstown Colorado today but caught some stomach bug and couldn’t make it. The truck got a nice cleaning just cause I guess.
Sucks about the show. Interesting that there's 2 trucks in the area that look similar. I should have grabbed a pic of the one I saw. For some reason I didn't.

That would be cool to see. I might have to go to that show next year to see it and park them side by side.
So I have put 3 thousand miles on the truck since it was roadworthy back in October and relatively finished.
So here are my thoughts and where I am at.
I spent a bunch of time trying to sound proof this truck during the build and it has been a failure. The road noise in the truck is deafening. I feel like it’s worse than it was having done nothing. I’m not sure if all the kill mat has turned the cab into an echo chamber or what but it definitely seems like it’s amplified.
The NV4500 has been a good addition. I will say the gear noise is something else. The gearing has been something to get use to as it is definitely different than what was in there.
The engine has continued to be a disappointment but it seems like as it is breaking in it is gaining power and drivability. The amount of oil leaks on it is awful.
I need to replace this fuel tank and figure out another option. This fuel tank only lets me run about half capacity before it starts having pickup issues.
I need to get shorty headers and rebuild the exhaust. The long tubes clear but not with suspension articulation and contact the high pinion 60 up front.
Over all it seems like the build was a success and I still have some stuff to do yet to get where I want it but I drive it constantly and over all am very happy with it.

There is so much information on using cork vs rubber gaskets and glue vs no glue.
This company had these Valve covers on sale for just over 100 bucks. I wanted to try them to see if they would stop the leaking by applying more of an even consistent pressure down on the gasket across the head.
If they don’t work I’ve created a prototype gasket brace that I think could do the trick.
With these valve covers they don’t secure the gasket into place other than with the bolt holes unlike the OEM one does with the tabs.
I used rubber gaskets with glue. At this point it’s an experiment as good as anything.
In the process of resealing the intake I got side tracked and pulling the timing case cover off to have a look at that.
I will get everything put back together but I’ll leave the radiator out and the water pump and pulleys off so I can have a little more real estate to remove the front cross member and put the new battle born brakes one on.
my wife was talking to me when I was torquing the intake on and she goes “will this thing ever be done?”
the best could reply with was “as long as I’m working on it probably not. “
