Hey Folks,
I an old member that went on hiatus for a few years. I own the 1969 Stepside F250 4x4 Crewcab called Romeo. Don't think I've given an update on this forum for a while. Excuse me if I have. Romeo started out as a bone stock 1969 Ford 6 Man Cab, stepside, 4x4 truck ordered by CP Railway. The truck was delivered to the Medicine Hat division of CP on Feb 14, 1969. The truck was ordered as a fleetside but mistakenly built and delivered as a stepside. As a result of this mistake Romeo was relegated as a lunchroom and parked in the back of the yard as a place for the workers to eat. Romeo had 18000 original miles when I got him in the early 90's. He was bone stock. Dana 44 front axle, Dana 60 rear, divorced transfer case, 4 sp tranny. I got him running and roadworthy and he was my daily driver for a number of years. And then a number of years back I found a 79 sno fighter with the coveted dana 60 high pinion front axle and dana 60 rear with 3.54 gears. They were basically a bolt in except I had to cut the rear perches off of the old axle and weld on to the new axle. I used the married transfer case from the sno fighter as well so I had a transfer case mount made up. The only thing I'm missing right now is a power brake booster so I can have power disk brakes up front. I also found a low mileage rebuilt 390 engine. So that's where he stands right now. I just finished building a 32 x 40' heated shop which is going to make my life a whole lot better. I'm saving up for a 2 post lift. Then I'll be in heaven.
Question for you Dana 60 experts. I've installed a Dana 60 HP front axle and D60 rear axle from a 79 Ford F250 Sno-Fighter into Romeo. I've found a set of Warn Hubs #11690 for an excellent price. Will these hubs fit my Sno-Fighter D60 HP front axle?
And for those of you interested, the 79 axles were bolt in except I had to cut the spring perches off the old rear axle and weld on to my new D60 HP rear axle. Can't wait to see how 3.54 gears feel after running 4.10s since forever...
