LOL! I watched that video a dozen times and I just could not find that locking tab! Maybe it fell out? I saw another vid where an alternative method was to put a half inch ratchet on the idler bracket to move it slightly. I even used my 15" ratchet an could not get the leverage to move it! If I figured out to just grab the belt an pull up on it sooner, 2 hours would have been saved.
i wish i could use the tensioner tool to pull the tension off the belt... but im never able to find the hole with the tool... but have gotten the tab... have heard sometimes they can fall off over time or just gets broken.. i usually use a crowbar under the belt to pull on the belt using the GPM bracket as leverage... ive heard others say it can be done by squeezing the belt i cant ever seem to get the tensioner close enough to lock it..
This part is the key. I add a short 1/2" drive wobble extension to the smaller bar. It's got a smaller nose so it's easier to get into the square hole on the tensioner. Like this but I didn't buy a set, just picked one off the shelf.
Senior Master Tech uses the ratcheting gear wrench one, it's got a plug that if you have small hands you can stick into the tensioner then get the wrench on it:
