Trans Temp Question

Trans Temp Question
I had an issue coming home from the inlaws today. My tow haul light flashed a couple times and the check engine light came on. Then the screen displayed "Check Trans Temperature". I had TP up at the time and my TFT PID had jumped from ~120 to 8123. The ambient temp is 12 degrees. Is there anything wrong with driving the truck with possible temp sensor issues? I have about 400 miles to put on over the next couple days.
Thanks,

Sorry guys, thought that post would have had my signature with it. This is on my 05 F350 6.0 KR. I don't experience any other driveability issues, transmission seems to shift fine and all that. I looked up the codes that the pickup threw and they are related to the temp being too cold, instead of the the too warm that the TP gauge seemed to show last night. It also shows that I should not have 5th or 6th gears. Not sure how 6th gear works on a 5 speed transmission though..... Anyhow, like I said no issues, pickup is definitely still going into OD. Unless anyone says otherwise I am taking it and I will look at it when we get back. Maybe get that tranny flush done that I've wanted as well.

Thanks for the replies guys. I drove 200 miles this morning with this. It didn't start until I was about 5 miles into the trip, but continued the rest of the way. I did stop one time and the truck would not shift into either of the top two speeds for about 10 miles after that. Then outta the blue it shifted back into OD. Continued on the way with it and made it to my folks. TP continued to say 8100+ degrees, but the needle was as low as it could go. I found that interesting. From your responses I will just keep going with it the way it is. See if I can get it in for a flush and temp sensor change.
Thanks all, Merry Christmas!
