Turbo issue

hey guys, i have a 2004 6.0 and I noticed lately I’ve been having an extra noise coming from the passenger side near by the turbo. The only issue is the turbo seems like it’s running great. Boost gauge no issues. No check engine lights, between 26-30mph you’ll hear a normal whistle but on top of that there is like a low mono whistle as well that follows with it and itll do the same thing while slowing down in the same speed. Truck is stock besides straight pipe and I just put new boots on and it didn’t fix it. Anybody have any ideas? Stuck at this point and don’t want to just throw money into it

Welcome to FTE Robert64

Do a check around the bellow on the up pipes feeding the turbo, they tend to crack.

Well I inspected that part on my truck and I can’t really see any issues. If anything it looks like it practically new. Nor do I see soot marks around the flex parts

Keep looking around and keep an ear out if it changes. Inspect the seams around the inter-cooler. Any history of repairs under the hood other than the boots you changed out?

The only history that it shows is brake lines have been done and that’s it. I did the egr valve and EBP sensor. I have the turbo almost all the way off. 1 more holy and then I’ll be able to inspect the pipes better. I will keep posted if I find anything or not. Thank you

You might try this if you don't have it too far apart.

One change I would make to this is I would add a pressure regulator
so that the air can be left on so you can go looking for the leak. I think
that 15 PSI would do the job and then you don't run the risk of a blow out.

So got everything out and inspected everything, up pipes and everything is solid. No leaks or soot built up. Everything was clean. Put everything back together and started testing the vgt . I know when normal starting I used to have an instant turbo whistle going and now seems like maybe it’s gummed up or not doing it’s full job. I got ford to look at originally and they’re saying it’s possible the trans is going bad. But doesn’t make total sense. I will try that video out and do it again to be sure everything is good. I didn’t use that much psi the last time so I’ll try that
