Intake air temp sensor one circuit high and strange idle?

I have a code for iat sensor 1 circuit high. It's the only code I can pull. I replaced the sensor in the manifold and still no change. The truck revs up when started but kinda finds its idle rpm after a second and the idle fluctuates some when the truck is warmed up too. I have a snap on solus and all parameters seem to be good. Icp sensor is also new thinking it might be the cause. Other than that the truck runs perfect and doesn't miss a beat. Any ideas?

Sounds like a broken wire in the harness. Time to start looking at the harness.
Your going to want to dig out your DMM (Digital Multi Meter).
Do you have diagrams for the wiring?
It looks like to me that you have an 03 F350. If so and you don't have the
diagrams I can post them.

This file is from the 2004 truck and may not be the one you need
I'll get the file you need later today and upload it if you need it.

I just put a brand new motor craft engine wiring harness on it. Maybe I replaced the wrong iat. I replaced the one that threads into the intake manifold in like a 3/4 pipe plug. Could it be the sensor in the plastic intake tube?

U changed the IAT2. The sensor you have an open circuit on is the other one that's pre- turbo in the airflow sensor. Make sure it's plugged in. Also look up test for MAF.

It's plugged in but I will have to find that test. It could be what's wrong. So the iat1 is part of the maf?

The mass airflow has 6 wires. 2 wires are the IAT1. One is a reference and the other is a signal back to the pcm.

Do you have a Scan Gauge II or some other means to check inputs? You need to first "see" what the PCM is seeing, if anything from IAT1.

I think I found the problem. This wire is broken. It's not part of the new engine harness I installed. Would this sensor not reading cause an irradic idle? And how should i go about repairing this wire.

Look for pid IAT1 and IAT2. IAT1 is Intake Air Temp sensor #1. If you have a reading on the scanner, say 105°f, watch the reading and wiggle the wires at the plug and then work down the harness and inspect for chafe. If at anytime you see the temp change rapidly, like it drops to 40, then you found the problem area.
If you have no reading then you need to check for reference volts and a signal coming out from the sensor.

I type slow and i see your pic now.

YES that's one of the sensors wires. Solder it together and shrink tube it and all should be well.

I will solder it up and hopefully all is good. Would that cause my idle issue?

Certainly. Repair it and see what you got. Post results when you're done.
