Ok, I gotta chance to possibly trade my 98 4runner for a 71 f250 4x4 which is in good condition . The value of my truck is about 5 grand. i believe this truck has a 360 and manual tranny, not sure really haven't had time to go over it , but i will before i make up my mind. just didn't know the value of the truck and of course the fuel mileage difference concerns me. but i love old ford trucks thanks mike
You won't be able to afford to put gas in the ol Ford compared to your lil 4runner! We're talking 8-10 mpg on a good day.
Depending on the actual condition of the truck and where you are located is if it is worth near $5K. Likely not unless it's a real creampuff. If you are in a good climate, they are dime a dozen for nice. Us in the rust belt pay that for a good truck.
Im in Va.Beach yea kinda humid ...gonna ck out all the typical spots for rust.. the body and interior look good . just dont see to many around here. Thanks for the tips.

1968/76 F100/250 4WD: The only available V8 was the 360 2V / Engine code 4th digit of VIN / Y = 360 2V
The 4 speed trans is likely the New Process 435 (Warranty Plate TRANS code A), as it was installed in most 4WD's and some 2WD's.
The economy stinks, these trucks are not rare or highly desirable, so they are only worth what people are willing to pay for them.
Gas prices just went waay up again here in CA, caused by Chevron refinery fire in Richmond. News broadcasters say this will soon affect other states and prices won't drop until October at the earliest.
These trucks have the aerodynamics of a brick. A gallon of regular was about 30 cents back then and no one gave a hoot about MPG.
Expect no more than 8-10 city, you might get 15 hwy ... if you drive like Uncle Fudd (no more than double nickel).
See the oversized tub (231 1/2" long) in my sig pic? Onboard computer sez since day one (1/22/2011), overall MPG: 14.8.
'Course, who would buy a full sized pickup and then expect to get the same MPG as an econo-box?
I know gas mileage will be crappy. but i love the older style ford . planning on lifting it, but just thought they where more rare than they are i guess. kinda wanted something no one else around here has, which i haven't really seen. Thats why i thought it was more of a good find. thanks for your input , just miss haven a big ol truck.
My brother, in his '76 highboy, who drives like a wild man, can get 14MPG doing 80 MPH. Dad, in his '75 highboy, who drives like "Uncle Fudd", can get 16 MPG doing 70 MPH. Both have identical 390's (dad's is a smidgen higher compression) and 4.10's.
