"had no 1 or overdrive lite on shifter does not flash"

you have no first gear when placed in D (it starts out in 2nd) ,and the OD lite is not flashing? is this correct? do i also understand the trans is not going into OD either?
do you have manual first?

did you make sure the MLPS connection was clean and tight?

what lead you to believe the trans was in need of a rebuild to begin with? same symptoms?
you just had the trans rebuilt, but had to replace the flex plate so soon? what's the story there?

thank you for your reply. Yes it starts out in 2nd and goes to drive. I have no overdrive and no 1st gear. even in manually.
Previously the transmission was shuttering driving down the road and when I pulled it, and took it into the shop, they told me the tork converter had came apart. So we just replaced the whole thing.

Did not replace the flex plate then and I should have. That is why I had to replace it recently.

thanks for your help.

You may have an electrical issue. With no 12V power, you should have:

4th gear in (D),
2nd gear in 1 or 2
reverse in R

Drive will feel a bit mushy since the converter cannot lockup under this condition. It might even give you the impression of being in 3rd gear.

There is a quick connect on the passenger side on the transmission that supplies power to all the internal solenoids. Without it properly plugged in, you will not get any automatic functions.

Also check your fuses and verify that power is getting to your transmission controller.

Unhappy

The tack works fine and light doesn't seem any dimmer.

I cleaned all the electrical plugs. Will check for power.

Thanks for all the help.

you replaced the transmission with a new or used unit?
if used,it didn't happen to come from a 7.3l PSD truck by any chance (and if so,do you still have your old trans?)

new rebuilt out of a 93 f350 worked great for the first year with no problems at all. the only thing this truck is used for is towing a thirty foot goose neck trailer with farm tractors on it.

ah ok.
at the solenoid pack plug, did you verify power is there, and not just at the computer?
you don't recall damaging any wires or anything when swapping trans and have to make any repairs etc, that you could check?
