I have a 1993 f250 with a e4od trans. Ive had this truck for about a month now. When I first bought it, it shifted fine and my OD light didnt flash on and off. The owner before me said he "replaced it" with a Ford reman. out of an 01 ambulance (who knows if its true or not...) The problem I'm having now is that when I put it in D it goes straight to 3rd gear. When I put it in 1st or 2nd, manually, it only goes to 2nd. There was a week stretch of where id be able to stop the truck, turn it off, and turn it back on and the light would stop flashing and it would shift fine.. now it doesnt do that, I basically only have 2 gears now, 2nd & 3rd. Any ideas of what this could be???????
welcome to FTE.
do your tach and speedometer work properly?
the trans needs signal from both the tach and speedo sending units to work properly.
if either of them are not working properly, the trans goes into limp mode . do not drive it like this too long, it will tear the trans up.
I pulled some codes and I kept getting a 62.? I called the nearest trans repair shop and I was able to talk to an older gentleman, he said that could be the trans solenoid. Has anyone ever heard of that or is he giving me shirt?
I have R, 2nd gear, and 3rd gear. No 1st or OD. all electrical are reading the right ohms. And all connections are clean.
code 62 could be caused by a failed solenoid yes (along with many other things causing that one though.this code may clear up after you resolve the main issue.) so he was correct there.however code 62 isn't the reason for the loss of proper shifting through the gears while in the D position.
that one could be a failed MLPS/range sensor or lack of power to the TECA.did you check your fuses under the hood in the power distribution box? when you press the OD cancel button,do you see the light turn on brightly?
